The ceramic 3D printer of 3D Controls (CEO Lee Sang-gyu), which can 3D print patient-specific teeth, semiconductors, aerospace, and other ceramic parts, has been recognized for its innovation and has been registered in the Public Procurement Service Innovation Marketplace, and is expected to stimulate purchases.

The Public Procurement Service (Public Procurement Service, Commissioner Lim Ki-geun) announced that it selected 127 organizations to pilot 68 innovative products worth 16 billion won, including 3D Controls’ fully sintered ceramic 3D printer ‘TD6’, and unveiled them in the Innovation Marketplace on the 25th.

This pilot purchase focused on activating ‘demand-proposed innovative products’ in which companies provide solutions when the government suggests public demands such as various inconveniences and potential risk resolution that citizens experience in their daily lives. In addition, innovative products that apply cutting-edge technologies such as 3D printing were given priority in the selection.

The ceramic 3D printer ‘TD6’ from 3D Controls, which was recently registered in the Innovation Market, is characterized by its ability to produce fast and precise parts by applying the top-down surface irradiation technology of the Full HD high-resolution DLP (Digital Light Processing) engine. The maximum output size is 120x68x45mm (width x height x height).

In particular, this product applies high-temperature debinding and sintering process technology to ceramic composite materials (photocuring resin) that can completely remove the binder as a follow-up process after printing, and is implemented as a final result with the same properties as existing ceramic materials. 3D Controls has directly developed and commercialized alumina (Al2O3) and zirconia (ZrO2) ceramic composite materials, and is also developing silicon nitride (Si3N4), alumina-reinforced zirconia (ATZ), and yttrium oxide (Y2O3).

‘TD6’ has been supplied to two places including the Korea Institute of Ceramic Technology and is being verified for use in the production of various ceramic parts required in fields such as patient-tailored teeth, semiconductors, and aerospace.

Lim Ki-geun, the head of the Public Procurement Service, said, “The pilot purchase of innovative products is a gateway for small and medium-sized, venture, and innovative companies with innovative technologies, and an important window for solving practical problems in the field.” He added, “We will continue to operate the system so that the pilot purchase of innovative products can be a device that catches two birds with one stone: solving problems in the field and spreading innovative technologies.”
